Animated Artillery Cannon MLRS Rocket Launcher in Desert Sand Camouflage
I am extremely honored you have taken the time to visit this 'tribute' web site to 'A' Battery 40th Field Artillery, MLRS. This web site was built not only to honor and bring due credit and recognition to my fellow Soldiers, but also as a place to memorialize our 'Brothers' whom have, for various reasons, fallen along the way.

'A' Battery 40th Field Artillery, MLRS, was organized as a, self-sustaining, field artillery battery, existing as an operational unit for only seven years (1985-1992). A/40th Field Artillery's primary mission was to provide General Fire Support within the historic, 3rd Armored Division-Artillery 'Spearhead Steel.' During those few years, no more than several hundred Soldiers, in total, are able to say they served with A/40th, MLRS. Together, these several hundred Soldiers, left some indelible marks on history and the world as we know it today.

Soldiers assigned to A/40th witnessed the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of East and West Germany. We helped usher in a peaceful conclusion to the 50 years long, 'Cold War.' We watched in amazement as the 'Iron Curtain' was shredded by former Soviet 'East Block' nations declaring independence one by one. Additionally, A/40th deployed with the 3rd Armored Division to Southwest Asia and gallantly fought in combat to secure the freedom of Kuwait in the Persian Gulf War of 1990-1991. A/40th's combat performance earned a Meritorious Unit Citation from the Secretary of the Army. The list of accomplishments goes on and on, but one thing is certain: A/40th Field Artillery and her Soldiers, never once failed to fulfill or complete a mission. Every 'order' was carried out dutifully and honorably to the best of our collective abilities, ever mindful of the grateful nation whom we served and protected.

For me, this project has been just as much a long, sought after personal desire, as a labor of love, gratitude and appreciation for those Brothers, Enlisted, NCO and Officer alike, whom I hold in such high regard and have such fond memories of our short time together.

Whether we were close friends, unacquainted or just assigned to the same unit, we all share a certain bond: The kind of bond that emerges through the trials, stresses, uncertainty and fear that accompany soldiers in both times of peace and war. Through our collective experiences, we have have always known that somehow, A/40th FA was 'above' the rest.
