At 0345 hours on February 27th, the division commander directed 3rd Armored Division’s 3rd Brigade to pass through the 2nd Brigade and continue the attack through the 2nd BDE zone of operations. The Division Artillery commander ordered that the divisional MLRS asset, A/40th MLRS, call sign ‘Deep Strike,’ be released from its general fire support role with 2nd BDE and for A/40th MLRS to move forward with the 3rd BDE. This action would allow the division and 3rd BDE to maintain the capability to strike deep into the enemy’s rear at targets as they were identified.

During the night, the brigade staff coordinated the passage of lines while continuing to fight the battle and maintain contact with enemy forces. During the passage of lines TF 4/8 CAV and TF 3/8 CAV reported enemy contact to the west. The 2nd BDE continued to direct the use of artillery, close air support (CAS) and attack helicopters on the reported enemy locations. During the passage the 3rd Brigade TAC was co-located with the 2nd BDE TAC with both monitoring the ongoing battle. At 1045 hours the 3rd BDE conducted a forward passage of lines under fire, relieving the 2nd BDE. Throughout the battle, 2nd Brigade sustained only 2 soldiers killed in action (KIA) and 6 soldiers wounded in action (WIA) while retaining a 99% combat power status.

Upon completion of the passage of lines, 2nd Brigade became the reserve brigade for the 3rd Armored Division and responsible for clearing the division rear area of by-passed pockets of enemy soldiers. The 2nd BDE moved behind the 3rd BDE from Phaseline Bullet to Phaseline Success. The 2nd BDE was also assigned the mission of protecting 3rd Armored Division's lines of communication and to destroy all enemy vehicles and equipment in the division zone. The 2nd Brigades combat action was completed with the occupation of Assembly Area (AA) Success from February 27 to March 1, 1991.
